Thor's Hammer Pendants

Description

I've been making these hammers now for about 2 years... Of all the various things that I make, it is only when I am making these that I truly feel like an "artist".

The hammer head starts as a piece of solid copper, about 1/4" X 3/8" X 4" long. I work the copper hot on my anvil, upsetting it to about 1/2" X 1/2" X 1 1/4". I cut it down to 1" long and hammer the corners to shape. I drill the hole for the handle on my drill press.

The handle is just a rod brass rod. I taper the end to fit snug in the head. Back to the anvil, I peen the handle in place, hammer a flat spot on the other end, and drill another hole for the ring on the drill press. I add a hand made copper ring. The whole thing gets cleaned up on the wire wheel and a coat of wax...

Each one is slightly different. I do not use a rule anywhere during the process... everything is measured by eye, and the hammering stops when it looks right...

Simple but effective. I was about to ask what materials you used, but then I remembered to read the comments. We all make mistakes at some point right?
